About Us

Greater Columbus Right to Life is a regional Pro-Life education and advocacy organization.  Our five core strategies to Educate, Advocate, Legislate, Unify, and Multiply shape everything that we do.

Educate.  Education is a key strategy to advancing the cause of life.  A population uneducated about the sanctity of human life and Pro-Life people unequipped with the tools needed to correctly interpret and respond to the deceptive messages of pro-death movement fall prey to the philosophy and teaching of that movement.

Advocate.  Pro-Life people must advocate for those whose lives are at risk from pro-death philosophy and practice.  We simply must use our voices to speak for those whose voices have been silenced.  It is incomprehensible and unacceptable for Pro-Life people to remain silent on the sidelines when people's lives weigh in the balance.

Legislate.  As an affiliated chapter of Ohio Right to Life, GCRTL supports the legislative work of the state organization.  We promote effective legislation and public policy to protect innocent human life, educate the public about candidates' positions in Pro-Life issues and promote active citizenship.

Unify.  Pro-Life people come in all shapes and sizes.  We are men and women, of all different ages, races, colors, religions, denominational affiliations, national origin, and most any other demographic.  While we may be different from one another in some ways, we are unified in our belief that life begins at conception and should be protected from that moment until the moment of natural death.  Additionally, there are a number of different Pro-Life organizations in the Greater Columbus region.  We may have different strategies, but we are all working toward the same end.  By coordinating our efforts and collaborating when appropriate, our collective voices and actions can be more effective than our individual efforts.

Multiply.  The war to protect innocent life will be won as we increase in numbers.  We must multiply ourselves.  Through the successful implementation of GCTL's first four strategies we will see an increase in people who are:
 - Well-educated about the sanctity of human life from the moment of conception to the moment of natural death.
 - Actively advocating for the rights of those whose lives are in jeopardy from pro-death philosophies and actions.
 - Practicing their rights and responsibilities as active citizens in the voting booth and the houses of government.
 - Walking and working in unity with Pro-Life individuals and organizations.

Like most Right to Life groups, Greater Columbus Right to Life is comprised of two components, a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt charitable organization and a 501(c)(4) tax exempt membership society.  Our 501(c)(3) is the Columbus Right to Life Educational Foundation.
Our 501(c)(4) is Greater Columbus Right to Life, Inc.

Columbus Right to Life Educational Foundation - 501(c)(3)
The CRTLEF was founded in 1976 and received its IRS charitable status in September of that same year.  All of our educational programs and some of our advocacy efforts are are accomplished through the CRTLEF. Because we have received (c)(3) status from the Internal Revenue Service, donations to the CRTLEF are tax deductible.

Greater Columbus Right to Life, Inc. - 501(c)(4)
GCRTL, Inc., was organized in 1975.  501(c)(4) organizations are membership organizations and donations to them are not tax deductible.  If you are a member of GCRTL, your membership is with this branch.  It is through this branch that all of our legislative and some of our advocacy efforts take place.  GCRTL is not a political action committee, so we do not endorse candidates or political parties.  We provide information to our members, supporters, and the general public about political candidates' positions on Pro-Life issues and about life-related legislation.  We encourage everyone to take an active role in the political process, to practice their rights and responsibilities as citizens, to share their opinions with their elected officials, and to vote as their conscience leads them.
